Bink's Brew

This post from McCallywood on Imgur caught my eye because of that beautiful patch of Forget-Me-Nots (Myosotis), but also for that gorgeous black kitten and her alert eyes. I had to share it with all of you.

The full text in the caption reads, "We found our kitten in a friend's car at work just before Halloween. She had driven 5 miles with the little fur ball wedged in the motor somewhere. When she got to work, we heard her tiny little mews, and the rest is history. She is now a Queen! Her name is Binks (from 'Hocus Pocus' ... we thought she was a boy for 6 weeks). I like to call her JahJah Binks, Binkachu, or Binksy."

Catnap in the Shed

These photos were posted on Twitter by BHFeralCats (@BhFeral). They are a feral and street cat sanctuary in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, UK. They captioned this post:

"The #shed is in need of repair, but it is a cozy place to have a #catnap."

If you have a covered space that can shelter feral cats in brutal winter weather, consider leaving the door ajar and creating a comfortable sleeping spot with old straw, blankets, or other padding.

On Dasher...

Colleen Ward of Kensington, MD, USA, shared this photo of her cat. She wrote: "Here is Dasher (named after one of Santa's crew) next to my orchid. My favorite one actually. LOL! This is the closest garden picture I could get of him. Since he's only 5 months old and there is not much in the garden in January."
"He has been very therapeutic for myself and my husband, Richard Ward, who has pancreatic cancer, NETs, and is going threw chemo. Dasher keeps our minds off our troubles!"

How to Submit YOUR Garden Cat Photos/Stories

Being enchanted by both cats and gardens, I decided to start this blog for fun to combine the beauty of both. I know that many of you share my interest in these two passions and I hope you will submit your own images of garden cats with us.

Note that we define a garden as any cultivated spot with plants. This can be anything from a public park to your bedroom windowsill!
Here is how to submit your image:
- Email to KathyJentz (at) gmail (dot) com
- Put "Cats in Gardens" in the subject line
- Attach your image(s)
- In the body of the email include:
~ your name or you can choose to be "anonymous"
~ the cat's name (if known)
~ where the photo was taken (city, state, country)
~ if you have a blog, social media, or web site you would like to have linked
~ a paragraph or so about the cat or the garden or both, we love to hear your stories!
