Landscape Designer Karin Reber shared some adorable photos on her Instagram feed from her recent trip to Norway of an orange cat and a magpie interacting.  See the linked post above. The yellow Norwegian poppies are beautiful as well. PS No worries, the bird was just fine.

This Chester is no Cheetah

 

This photo is courtesy of Patty Heese. It is of a handsome cat named Chester at the Laurel Nursery/Garden Center in Latrobe, PA. Chester is doing a great job supervising the houseplant department and making sure everyday is Caturday at the garden center!

Chubby Cherub

Gerald Simcoe, a horticulturist and fine artist, living in Northampton, PA, shared these photos of Chubby. Gerald wrote, "He loves being outdoors, but not being cold, hence his sitting on the heat mat under grow lights. There wasn’t enough room, so he pushed the pots aside. I learned to save space for cat tanning."

Derby Winner

 

"Hey, it’s Derby here. I’m a 5-year-old ginger with classic tabby markings that I like to show off by sprawling out in the garden, usually right in the middle of foot traffic on a path or near the closest wild catnip plant. I was adopted from Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary and hit the garden cat jackpot."

"I live indoors (bor-ing, although handy during those Wisconsin winters), but I spend nearly as much time in the backyard during the growing season as my human gardener buddy. My preferred garden activities are chewing on ornamental grasses ('Toffee Twist' is a personal favorite), rolling around in the dirt, catching a catnap in the shade gardens, keeping an eye out for rascally chipmunks and, just for fun, occasionally squeezing through the pickets of the fence, which is frowned upon. Oh, and water! Did I mention water?  Love the stuff. There’s nothing better than wading into a freshly filled birdbath for a drink. Cheers and happy gardening!"

And they say Gingers have no soul...

This photo is simple entitled, "orange tabby cat on green grass" with no mention of the lovely garden path and plants behind the ginger cat! It is posted on several royalty-free photo web sites, so there is no attribution or known story behind it. However, that level cat stare straight into the camera lens speaks volumes. It says, "I am the ruling cat in these parts and I am not afraid of the likes of you."

By the way, the gene for ginger is "linked to gender, and about three out of four ginger cats are males." That means we can rather safely assume this kitty is a he.

And that ridiculous rumor that gingers have no souls? Well, we won't even bother addressing such slander.

Not-so-lazy Garfield

Ronnie Port, horticultural advisor at St Bridgets nurseries, in Newton St Cyres, Devon, United Kingdom, shared this photo on her LinkedIn profile.

She said, "This picture was taken by my friend and work colleague, Jess Gowing, of a cat that loves to visit us at work he walks over 1km just to say hi. Meet Garfield, I think her picture shows how epic he is and what a great photographer she is. He’s a lovely little cat with very loving owners. The regular customers we have also love looking out for him."

"He’s our favourite little pal that pays us very regular visits. His wage is being fussed and he follows me around quite a lot expecting a nudge from on top of compost bales, tree lines, gates, and occasionally from the till counter as a tip from customers."
