The Winter Sun

Kitty at First Light

I don't know about you, but this time of year is torture for me in the Mid-Atlantic US. It is a long, cold stretch between the holidays and the first day of spring. My cats spend much of their daytime following the winter sun around my bedroom and living room taking naps in its warmth.

This kitty pictured above is soaking in those rays on a warm day. He is no fool and knows they are fleeting!

Tiggs in the Garden

Alex Dean shared these photos of her cat Tiggs in the garden in Oxfordshire, England.

Her cats have an Instagram blog at @Tiggs.nakia.elsa.

"Tiggs is about 9-10 years old and we adopted him after his last owners abandoned him," wrote Alex. "He’s so affectionate and photogenic, and sunbathing in the garden is his favorite place to be!"

Treacle Sponge in the Sun

Graham Spencer of Plants For Europe, a leading independent plant breeders' agent, shared this photo of Treacle. He writes: "She is 11 years old. We got her from the rescue centre when she was a kitten -- the owner of her mum was an old lady living alone and couldn't cope with a pregnant cat, so she was born in the cattery. She only talks when a tuna can is being opened. She knows she's pretty and milks it for all it is worth."
