Hank in Wheelbarrow

 

This is "Hank in Wheelbarrow" by Edward Weston in 1945. Accirding to Wikipedia, Weston was "one of the most innovative and influential American photographers" and "one of the masters of 20th-century photography." 

He co-published a book titled "The Cats of Wildcat Hill" which is full of wonderful images of the 40 cats that lived on his property in the Carmel Highlands in Monterey County, California. 

Kim Weston follows in his grandfather's photography footsteps and you can see his photos here including one of a cat named Charis. "She has a wonderful soul and loves rolling in the dirt, chasing after anything that moves, and licking your fingers when trying to use the computer." A true garden cat!

Garden Cats Come in All Sizes

Whether you are a tiny kitten or are the king of the jungle, the feline principle of “if it fits, I sits” reigns supreme.
   Maria Weinberg, zookeeper at Oaklawn Farm in Nova Scotia, Canada, said: “I was just going into the lion enclosure to give the lions some pumpkins to play with. As I was giving the other two lions their pumpkins I look back at Obi and saw he was sitting in the wheelbarrow. Hoping he would stay there long enough [so] I could get the pic, I let him sit there as long as he wanted, and after two or three minutes he jumped out and went and played with the pumpkins.”

Wheelbarrow Cat Mystery

I found the beautiful wheelbarrow cat image on Pinterest and once again I find no source or photographer associated with an image. Does anyone know whose garden, cat, or photo this is? It is such a shame that so many do not use Pinterest correctly and pin/re-pin images without a link back to the original source.
