Everybody's Pickin' Up On That Feline Beat

Stacy Greenstreet of Greenstreet Gardens, shared this adorable garden center cat. We have a special place in our hearts for "working" garden cats.
Stacy writes, "Jasmine, aka  “Jazzy”  came to us in February 2019. We adopted her from the SPCA Barn Cat program, a fantastic organization that does amazing work in and around Anne Arundel County, MD, USA."
"Jazzy took to her new home with us quickly. She can be found in our greenhouse or the gift shop, but she prefers to be in the gift shop greeting customers and lounging around. We call her our 'Gift Shop Kitty' or 'Diva' in the best sense of the word."
"She has the sweetest personality and on occasion will kindly bring us an unwanted critter that may sneak its way inside. "
"Our customers have come to love her as well. We have people who make special trips just to see Jazzy. On a personal note, we feel that having a cat or any pet in and around a business, brings a sense of calm, community and connection. She is surely an ambassador of Greenstreet Gardens."

You might also recall that we featured two other Greenstreet garden cats, Rue and Patch, so be sure to click on their names here to read their stories and see their photos too

And if you don't get that headline reference, I invite you to enjoy this soundtrack gem from Disney's The Aristocats here.

Derby Winner

"Hey, it’s Derby here. I’m a 5-year-old ginger with classic tabby markings that I like to show off by sprawling out in the garden, usually right in the middle of foot traffic on a path or near the closest wild catnip plant. I was adopted from Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary and hit the garden cat jackpot."

"I live indoors (bor-ing, although handy during those Wisconsin winters), but I spend nearly as much time in the backyard during the growing season as my human gardener buddy. My preferred garden activities are chewing on ornamental grasses ('Toffee Twist' is a personal favorite), rolling around in the dirt, catching a catnap in the shade gardens, keeping an eye out for rascally chipmunks and, just for fun, occasionally squeezing through the pickets of the fence, which is frowned upon. Oh, and water! Did I mention water?  Love the stuff. There’s nothing better than wading into a freshly filled birdbath for a drink. Cheers and happy gardening!"

Derby lives with Zone 5a gardener and entertainment/feature writer Kendra Meinert and an easygoing brother, Wyler, in Green Bay. You can follow their gardening adventures on Instagram @KendraMeinert.

How's Trix?

This is Alex Czapicki sharing a selfie of her and her cat.

She writes, "I'm Alex and my calico
cat's name is Trixie. We live in the heart of Washington, DC. Three summers ago, I transformed our shared backyard into a plant haven for me and my girl. Although a true indoor cat, Trixie is my biggest garden companion and always provides me comfort in the yard until she gets scared and runs inside. I also grow organic catnip for her which she loves!"

Pops in a Tulip Garden

Grace Park of Washington, DC, shared this photo of Putin-Pops aka "Pops." She wrote, "Sweet, handsome Pops is an almost-three-year-old Russian Blue who can always sense who in the room needs the most snuggles. He is always in pursuit of the perfect spot on your lap, your furniture, your workspace, the hidden gems around D.C., National Parks, and in the most beautiful gardens. His hoomans often joke that he is a puppy disguised as a cat due to his cuddly personality, friendly greetings at the door, frequent walks outside and endless games of fetch. He is often found sporting a bowtie and a pawsitive attitude. If you see him around Washington, DC, or traveling around the U.S., feel free to say hello!"
